Slovenia recorded the highest annual growth in construction production across the EU in June, with an increase of 22.9%, according to Eurostat data released in late August. Romania and Finland followed, posting rises of 18.4% and 12%, respectively. In contrast, construction production in the euro area declined by 0.7% in June 2026 compared to the same month in 2025, while the overall EU saw a slight increase of 0.2%. Among Member States with available data, the steepest annual declines were observed in Spain (-8.5%), Hungary (-5.0%), and France (-4.5%). Slovenia’s robust growth is largely driven by major infrastructure projects, like the development of the new passenger hub in Ljubljana. Investment in new residential buildings is also on the rise, albeit at a more moderate pace.
