With the awards for best foreign investors – FDI Award Slovenia – the Slovenian Government wants to recognise, reward and evaluate exceptional contributions of foreign investors in the Slovenian business environment.
Foreign investors are crucial for creating new jobs and providing an added value as well as for research and development, new technologies, and regional or international expansion.
This year’s award ceremony will be slightly different than usual – it will be more innovative but still connecting all of us. It will move to the world wide web where you will be able to meet this year's award recipients at a very special digital event.
This year's recipients will receive some words of encouragement from previous year’s award recipients – in the year when the economy was rattled by the Covid-19 pandemic, it is even of greater value to share experiences and good practices to innovate and create a new reality together!

Petra Kovič has been the Editor-in-Chief of Svet kapitala since 2016. In 2020, Svet kapitala became a well established monthly publication of the Delo publishing house. In the times of this pandemic, it has become more online-oriented and is available at www.svetkapitala.si. Recently, Petra has been the author of a range of Svet kapitala podcasts titled Svet kapitala s Petro dedicated to young, bold and out-of-the-box thinking male as well as female entrepreneurs. Before joining the publishing house, she worked for 15 years as a journalist and a daily editor for Slovenia’s National Radio station Val 202. She edited radio shows from the fields of economy and culture featuring the most prominent decision-makers in the Slovenian society.
The traditional award ceremony honouring top foreign investors who achieved exceptional results and contributed significantly to the development of the Slovenian economy in the past year has become one of the most important business events in the country. Its aim is to promote successful foreign investors as a positive example and good practice in the Slovenian business environment as well as to evaluate the positive effects of these companies in Slovenia. Foreign investors are crucial for creating new jobs and providing an added value as well as for research and development, new technologies, and regional or international expansion. It is an honour to welcome Zdravko Počivalšek, Minister of Economic Development and Technology, as the honorary speaker at FDI Award. He is going to address the state of foreign investment in the Slovenian business environment with particular emphasis on the demanding circumstances in which not only Slovenian, but also the global economy have found themselves in 2020.
