A large proportion of Slovenian companies base their operations on corporate environmental, social, and governance principles.
ESG (environmental, social, and governance) principles recently became key areas in corporate reporting. A fad? Not quite. In a situation where the world faces serious challenges it seems to be a necessity.
In spring the consulting company Kearney presented an analysis of the state of ESG in Slovenia. No less than two thirds of the surveyed companies have a clear strategy and a business plan following ESG principles. These companies also include ESG in their reporting and follow the implementation of the strategy using indicators relating to ESG. Slovenian business daily Finance in cooperation with Kearny annually selects companies with the best practices in the area: the “ESG champions”.
This year’s title went to food company Atlantic Droga Kolinska group. The company thoroughly integrated ESG in their overall performance measurement. The principles used are also firmly linked with the European Sustainability Reporting Standards. Atlantic Droga Kolinska is the second largest food company in Slovenia and has annual sales of some 230 million euros. The runners up were the A1 telecommunication company, a local branch of the A1 Telekom Austria Group, and Iskra, a tech company offering a wide range of electronic and electro-technical products and solutions.
