Slovenian biotech company Acies Bio has entered into a partnership with German chemicals group BASF to further develop fermentation technology making a basis for a more sustainable production of home and personal care products. Acies Bio has developed the “OneCarbonBio”, a »flexible synthetic biology platform designed to efficiently convert renewable methanol, derived from captured CO2 emissions, into a variety of chemical raw materials«. The partners will combine their R&D efforts to further develop the platform. The partnership with the German giant will focus on the “entire chain from production strain development to large scale manufacturing”, thus bringing the technology to a global scale. BASF employs around 112,000 employees worldwide and generated close to 69 billion euros of sales in 2023. Acies Bio is a research oriented microbial biotech company cooperating with over 100 scientists.
