Slovenia has launched a national AI competence centre in Ljubljana as a €10 million hub for expertise, training and industry–research cooperation.
The centre brings together companies, universities, institutes and public bodies to support safe and competitive AI deployment. It will help businesses adopt AI, cooperate with start-ups, organise workshops and transfer academic knowledge into practice. The consortium is led by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, joined by the Jožef Stefan Institute, the Chamber of Craft and Small Business, the ASEF Institute and several university faculties. The centre will also inform policymaking, monitor companies’ needs and promote successful domestic and international practices. Slovenia’s strong AI research tradition and the presence of UNESCO’s International Research Centre on AI provide a solid foundation. The initiative follows the recent establishment of a national semiconductor competence centre.
