Notranjska (Inner Carniola), a region strategically positioned between Ljubljana, the Port of Koper, Italy, and Croatia, has become increasingly attractive to businesses.
In recent times, several fast-growing small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) have relocated their production facilities from Ljubljana to the towns of Logatec and Pivka.
An example is Mi elektronika, based in Brezovica on the outskirts of Ljubljana, which inaugurated its new plant in Logatec earlier this year. The fast growing family business is specialized in the development and production of PCB assemblies primarily for medical and aerospace instruments and devices. Tourne Mobil, a motorhome manufacturer, also shifted its production from Vrhnika to Pivka. The dynamic industrial zones in both Logatec and Pivka, boasting competitive prices, played a significant role in attracting these businesses. Additionally, Japanese Sumitomo Rubber selected Logatec as the location for its new production center a few years ago. Logatec's fast-growing industrial zone provides facilities to over 200 SMEs, including enterprises like Exterfer, a steel product company, and Opikar, a clean room producer renowned for its operating theatre solutions.
Inner Carniola is also recognized for its food and wood processing industries. Pivka, for instance, is a poultry company renowned for its commitment to delivering high-quality products. Profiles, on the other hand, has carved out a niche for itself as a leading European manufacturer of wooden dowels and lamellas. Noteworthy among the region's businesses is LIV, a sanitary equipment producer located in Postojna, which is a part of the Fluidmaster group from California, a global leader in toilet parts. Lastly, Inner Carniola boasts a vibrant tourism industry, thanks in part to the renowned Postojna Cave.
