Heating, ventilation, and cooling (HVAC) has traditionally been an important segment of Slovenian industry with several important niche players and component providers.
The largest HVAC company in the country is Danfoss Trata with over 160 million euros of sales in 2022. The 80-year-old company has been part of Danish Danfoss group since 1995 and produces various elements for remote control heating systems, including self-acting temperature regulators, balancing valves, and the like. The company has a strong and narrowly specialized R&D centre and is a regular winner of the national innovation awards.
OC IMP Klima is a 60-year-old producer of ventilation and climatization systems. Since 2020 the company has been part of the Dutch Orange Climate Group: its 12 laboratories constitute one of the largest HVAC R&D centres in the region. Another manufacturer of air conditioning systems is even older: Klima Celje has over 100 years of tradition. IMP Pumps develops circulating pumps for HVAC applications: in 2023 the company won the Golden Gazelle Award for the best fast-growing company in Slovenia.
Several companies develop highly specialized components: Hidria makes axial and centrifugal fans, Domel manufactures electromotors for low energy HVAC systems, Bial and Kiberplast produce radiators, Pucihar P and Livarna Titan various fittings, brackets and clamps. Elpro Lepenik specializes in temperature sensors, and measurement and regulation techniques. Kronoterm and Orca Energija make heat pumps. Both companies are small players in a fast growing and highly competitive market, yet their products are among the most efficient on the market.
