Pharmaceutical companies Novartis, Krka and Lek, the National Institute of Chemistry, and steel manufacturer SIJ Acroni are among the top ten innovators in Slovenia.
Gold awards were given to Roto for the Hydra 350 motorboat, to SIJ Acroni for developing the XM-19 stainless steel for fusion reactors and to Tab Systems for the SMARTi iCon wood scanner. The gold award was also given to Iskra PIO for the JetLoad Steri Isolator, a sterile material transfer device; to Krka for a hypertension treatment pill; and to Steklarna Hrastnik and the National Institute of Chemistry for a hybrid regenerative glass furnace. Impol 2000 was honoured as a top innovator for its sustainable, economically efficient aluminium-magnesium alloy. Microbium received an award for the MPN Analyser PRO, a device that quantifies faecal bacteria in drinking and bathing water. Novartis received gold award for a tool to predict the long-term stability of innovative biological medicines, and Keko-Equipment for CAM-H1105, a system for the automated production of fuel/electrolytic cells with solid electrolytes. A special Innovation Challenge award was also presented to software company Stroka Produkt for WeFeelFootball, the world's first digital platform for uniformly testing and assessing the potential of young footballers in the U10–U19 categories.
Fifty-three regional gold innovations were shortlisted for the national gold innovation awards from a record 245 entries involving more than 1,300 innovators. The awards were presented on Innovation Day, the event that honours the winners. The event is organised by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in collaboration with the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation, the Ministry of Economy, Tourism and Sport, the SPIRIT Slovenia Business Development Agency, and the research agency ARIS.
