This year's best Slovenian fast-growing company is EKWB, one of the global leaders in computer cooling solutions.
EKWB from Komenda, a village near the Slovenian capital Ljubljana, won the 2021 Golden Gazelle Award for the best fast-growing company. EKWB stands for Edvard König water blocks – König founded the company in 2006, and water blocks refer to water cooling. The company with some 200 employees and 35 million euros of annual sales is the global leader in premium-quality computer cooling system solutions and was among the early pioneers in liquid cooling. Less than 10 years after its inception EKWB was, according to Technology and Business Journal, already “the fastest-growing company in the PC water cooling industry”. In 2013, the company’s sales revenues were close to 5 million euros. In 2017, their revenues surpassed 20 and are now close to 40 million. EKWB’s solutions are especially well accepted by gamers and PC building enthusiasts. Recently, EKWB has also been building a presence in the professional market, offering tailor-made solutions for servers, data centers, and deep-learning workstations. By using high-quality materials these industrial-grade systems aim at reliable long-term usage in harsh conditions.
The formula behind EKWB’s success? An extreme, almost fanatical passion for the product (Edvard König started constructing PC cooling systems as an enthusiast before the year 2000) paired with a strong multidisciplinary and international R&D team. Hardly original – yet it works.
