The electro industry is one of the strongest branches of Slovenian industry with 6.2 billion euros of sales last year, over 700 companies, and 29,000 employees. The branch is among the fastest growing: in five years revenues have grown by 67 percent.
The electro industry stems from a long tradition and is characterized by clear niche orientation, emphasis on high quality, and strong R&D.
This in particular is true for electronics. This subbranch employs 6,000 people and generates close to 1 billion euros of sales. Its value added, however, reaches 440 million – that’s a whopping 44 percent of sales.
14 Slovenian exhibitors at November’s Electronica in Munich trade fair and conference include companies like Elgoline or Intectiv, specialized printed circuit board manufacturers. Elgoline’s innovative products developed in cooperation with Institute Josef Stefan in Ljubljana are for example used in the Large Hadron Collider, the world’s most powerful particle accelerator.
The exhibitors include some of the best examples of Slovenia’s fast growing tech companies: a leader in in-wheel electro drives Elaphe and Instrumentation Technologies, developer of measurement instruments also used in particle accelerators.
Some of the exhibitors, however, are less known even to the Slovenian public. Eltas makes membrane keyboards. L-Tek is a smart emergency medical services (EMS) solutions provider. Red Pitaya develops innovative reconfigurable electronic lab instruments used both in research and in various industries.
