The global leader in earth imaging Planet Labs signed an agreement to acquire Sinergise, »a leading developer platform for earth observation (EO) data« in late March.
Sinergise, based in Ljubljana, developed the award-winning Sentinel Hub, an API based cloud streaming, archiving, processing, and distribution service. In essence, Sentinel Hub makes complex satellite imagery easily available for end-users and thus allows entities such as governments and agricultural companies to visualize and analyse a variety of data products at unprecedented speeds. Sinergise and San Francisco based Planet Labs have been partners since 2016 and expect that the acquisition will further accelerate the development of earth observation services. No financial details regarding the acquisition were disclosed.
