HSE, the largest producer of electricity in Slovenia, has announced its intention to invest 2.5 billion euros in renewable energy over the next 10 years. The state-owned group plans to build the largest floating solar power plant in Europe as part of the revitalisation of the brownfield area around the thermal power plant in Šoštanj in northern Slovenia. Furthermore, the group intends to build new hydropower plants on the Sava River and to invest in hydrogen production and battery energy storage. HSE is the second largest company in Slovenia, with 2024 revenues exceeding 3.6 billion euros.
