The three stars of Hiša Franko, and other restaurants awarded in the latest Michelin Guide confirm Slovenia’s role as a world-class culinary destination.

The Hiša Franko restaurant near the Slovenian town of Kobarid received three stars in the latest edition of the Michelin Guide. The establishment led by Ana Roš, one of the world's most critically acclaimed chefs, is the first restaurant in Slovenia to bear the three stars.

This year’s edition of the guide highlighted 59 restaurants in Slovenia: Milka in Kranjska Gora received two stars, seven restaurants were awarded one star and a further seven classified as Michelin Green Star establishments.

Gwendal Poullennec, International Director of the Michelin Guide, pointed out that “since arriving in the country, and year after year, our team of inspectors has continually been impressed by the gastronomic growth of Slovenia”. This year’s vintage demonstrates “impressive, rapid and sustainable gastronomic growth of Slovenia, which continues to assert itself as a must-see European and world culinary destination”.
