Slovenia had the highest economic growth out of 27 EU members in the second quarter of 2022. According to the latest Eurostat report published in August, the annual GDP growth reached 8.3 percent, well above the 4 percent EU average.

The Bank of Slovenia also adjusted its forecasts and estimate growth in 2022 to be 5.8 percent – a 1.8 percentage point higher than the Bank’s previous projections. In 2023, growth is estimated at 2.4 percent, almost a percentage point lower than in the previous forecast.

Employment also remains at a record level. Slovenia’s total exports (inside and outside the EU) in the first half of the year grew by 49 percent on an annual basis, that’s the third highest growth rate in the Union. The inflation rate reached 11.7 percent in July – the EU average is 9.8 percent. Still, the inflation figures remain the best among the ex-socialist economies. According to the Bank of Slovenia’s forecast, inflation should come down to 4.5 percent next year and to 2.3 percent in 2024.
