The European Food Summit, held in various places in Slovenia in mid-March, promotes Slovenia as an increasingly important gastronomic region: Slovenia recently won the title of European Region of Gastronomy 2021.
The European Food Summit, held in various places in Slovenia in mid-March, attracted some of the world’s leading chefs and renowned representatives of the culinary arts, the fine arts and the media. The summit consisted of number of events – food tastings, meetings, short trips and a symposium under the slogan “Food – a Bridge to the Sustainable Identities of European Cultures and Nations”. The event is co-organized by the Slovenian Tourist Board and aims to become one of Europe’s most important culinary events. It also promotes Slovenia as an increasingly important gastronomic region. In 2018 Slovenia won the title of European Region of Gastronomy 2021, awarded by the International Institute of Gastronomy, Culture, Arts and Tourism (IGCAT).
