Slovenia ranks 8th in reaching 17 sustainability goals set by the United Nations, expected to be met by 2030, with a sustainable development index of 80. The index is a part of a Global Responsibility Report published in July by the the UN’s Sustainable Development Solution Network and Bertelmann Stiftung, and ranks 156 countries. The highest scores are being achieved by Scandinavian countries, France, Germany and Switzerland, followed by Slovenia. The young nation scores highest in providing affordable and clean energy, in reducing poverty and inequality. On the other hand, Slovenia fares much worse when it comes to responsible consumption and production with above average levels of energy waste and industrial emissions.
