Wages down in February

Ljubljana, 22 April (STA) - The average Slovenian wage totalled EUR 2,279.53 gross or EUR 1,449.19 net in February, down from the month before but up compared to February 2023, data from the Statistics Office shows.


In nominal terms the average gross pay in February was 1.7% lower than in January, while in real terms it decreased by 2.5%. The average net pay in February was down by 1.9% in nominal terms and by 2.7% in real terms compared to the month before.

Year-on-year, the average gross pay increased by 6.9% in nominal and 3.4% in real terms compared. The average net pay grew by 4.1% nominally and 0.7% in real terms.

In the public sector the average gross pay decreased by 3.2% to EUR 2,506.40, while in the private sector it declined by 0.8% to EUR 2,178.23. The average net pay decreased by 2.9% to 1,591.69 in the public sector and by 1.3% to 1,385.58 in the private sector.

Gross pay was the highest in electricity, gas and steam supply at EUR 3,191.55 and in financial and insurance activities at EUR 3,191.12. Pay was the lowest in hospitality at EUR 1,655.59.

In February wages grew most in mining (by 3.1%) and dropped most in professional, scientific and technical activities (by 5.1%).
