Space technology companies presented in US

Colorado Springs, 12 April (STA) - Slovenian companies that have contributed to the country developing a notable space technologies sector in recent years have presented themselves in Colorado Springs and are now off to Denver as part of a road-show organised by the Slovenian Space Office, the public agency SPIRIT, the Defence Ministry and the Slovenian Embassy in Washington.

The initiative, promoting a promising space sector that features over 40 small and mid-sized companies developing innovative technologies and materials, was described by the Economy Ministry as one of the important steps strengthening future cooperating between Slovenia and the US.

The first part of the roadshow took place in Colorado Springs where seven Slovenian space industry companies - Dewesoft, Duol, FerroČrtalič, Intectiv, Obeor, Paradigma Technologies and Skylabs - attended the Space Symposium and presented their products at a joint stand.

More than 12,000 participants from all over the world, including representatives from governments, space agencies, companies and institutions, attend the event each year, making it an excellent platform for forging contacts and for learning about global trends in the space sector, the ministry said.

The Slovenian delegation, led by the head of the Slovenian Space Office Tanja Permozer, met in Colorado Springs with a representative of Axiom Space, which is building the first private space station and has international cooperation agreements with a number of countries, as well as with NASA.

Permozer also met with representatives of the European Space Agency (ESA) and with officials representing the institutions of its member states. Slovenia is an associate member and is seeking full membership.

Strengthening international cooperation with key partners such as ESA, the US, Italy, France, Germany and EU countries is of enormous importance for Slovenia, whose space sector has been developing rapidly since the country became an associate member of ESA in 2016, the ministry noted.

Some companies are already successfully cooperating with the US, but there are many more opportunities to strengthen cooperation in this field, it added.
