Consumer confidence highest since February 2022

Ljubljana, 23 April (STA) - Consumer confidence reached the highest level since February 2022 in April, climbing 3 points over March and 5 points compared to April 2023, the Statistics Office said on Tuesday.

The index was also 7 points higher than last year's average, but it was nevertheless 3 points below what the Statistics Office calls years-long average, a period between 2005 and 2023.

Compared to the month before, all components of the index increased in April: expectations about the economic situation in the country improved by 7 points, expectations about household finances were up by 3 points, and expectations about large purchases and current financial situation of households improved by 2 points each.

In annual comparison, the index increased due to more optimistic current household finances and expectations about large purchases, increasing 7 points each. Household finance expectations went up by 4 points in April over April 2023, while expectations about the national economy were 1 point higher than a year earlier.
