Podčetrtek, 17 November (STA) - Spa company Terme Olimia generated EUR 33 million in sales revenue last year, up 15% over the year before, as net profit soared by 63% to 4.2 million. They expect further growth this year.
Owned by the state, Terme Olimia operates the eponymous spa in Podčetrtek in eastern Slovenia and the Terme Tuhelj across the border in Croatia. It employs some 340 people.
The company is building a new EUR 5 million pool complex. Vasja Čretnik, director of sales and marketing, says it is expected to be completed early next year. The 2000 square metre complex will feature a swimming pool, a recreational pool, a children's pool and three saunas.
They are also planning a new family hotel with construction expected to begin in mid-2025. The four-star hotel will have 150 rooms. The investment is estimated at EUR 25-30 million, including the land, and the construction of the hotel and connecting corridor.
According to Čretnik, last year's results strongly trumped the targets, owing to active campaigns in the domestic and in particular foreign markets, successful sales and flexible pricing as well as cost management and investment in their own solar plant.
Considering the sales revenue in the first ten months of the year and bookings by the end of the year, the company expects to exceed last year's revenue by almost two million euros, or by 6%.
