Telekom Slovenije profit up 18% to EUR 14m in Q1, revenue up 2%

Ljubljana, 15 May (STA) - The Telekom Slovenije group generated EUR 171.7 million in revenue in the first quarter of the year, an increase of 2% year-on-year, driven above all by the growth of users, the telecoms incumbent said in a press release on Thursday. Net profit increased by 18% to reach EUR 14.3 million.

Revenue was pushed up by an increase in mobile services users, which has reached nearly 2 million overall, and higher sales of IT goods and services. In Slovenia, the number of mobile users has surpassed a million, which the group deems a significant milestone.

Earnings before interest, tax, depreciation, and amortisation (EBITDA) reached EUR 61.8 million, an increase of 4% compared to the first quarter of 2024. The EBITDA-to-sales ratio at the group level stood at 36.0%.

Earnings before interest and tax (EBIT) amounted to EUR 19.2 million, also 4% more year-on-year, the group said a day after the unaudited quarterly results were discussed by the supervisory board.

However, "despite the positive financial results, business operations are also affected by regulatory conditions in the market. A comparative analysis of the regulation of incumbent operators in EU countries shows a trend of deregulation of telecommunications operators".
