London, 29 November (STA) - The Spirit agency has signed a memorandum of understanding with the West London Chambers of Commerce on Friday to show their shared commitment to a continued strengthening of bilateral economic ties, the British-Slovenian Chamber of Commerce (BSCC) said. The memorandum was signed as part of a Slovenian-British business conference.
The memorandum shows a joint commitment of both sides for the strengthening of business ties between the countries and for creating a framework for economic cooperation in the future, the BSCC wrote in a press release.
"We want to boost trade and investment cooperation between the countries and give the companies from both countries all the support needed in the search for new business opportunities and in making new partnerships," said Spirit deputy director Tamara Zajec Balažič.
The memorandum was signed at a Slovenian-British business conference. National Council President Marko Lotrič addressed the attendees of the conference and stressed the strategic importance of cooperation with BSCC.
"In the pursuit of economic growth, which in Slovenia can be boosted by, among other things, increasing exports and attracting new foreign investment, expanding access for Slovenian companies to one of the most developed markets in the world is of key importance," Lotrič said.
UK's ambassador to Slovenia Victoria Harrison attended the conference and expressed her support for improving the bilateral relations between the countries.
The conference featured two panel discussions. In the panel on trade and investment opportunities attendees stressed the complementary nature of the UK and Slovenian economies and highlighted the importance of goal-oriented trade initiatives. A second panel discussed how the Slovenian pensions system reform could serve as a catalyser to attract institutional investors and promote long-term equity financing.
