Osaka, 21 October (STA) - The public agency SPIRIT Slovenia has hailed Slovenia's participation at Expo 2025 in Osaka a success, after the six-month world fair, which attracted 25 million visitors, concluded last week.
According to SPIRIT, which organised the country's participation, Slovenia was effectively presented as an innovative and sustainable nation. The pavilion, shared with 10 other countries, drew 3.8 million visitors, with organisers estimating that 80% of them viewed the Slovenian section - a figure that significantly surpassed attendance at previous world fairs.
Under the Expo's main theme of Designing Future Society for Our Lives, Slovenia's presentation focused on sustainability, innovation, and cultural heritage, using the slogan From Heart to Heart to symbolise its connection with Japan.
The pinnacle of Slovenia's programme was its national day on 26 September, which combined business, cultural, and tourism showcases for over 200 guests. Several official business delegations were also organised to connect Slovenian firms with Japanese counterparts.
Key achievements from the event include the signing of a memorandum of understanding with Uruguay to foster economic and cultural cooperation, and Slovenia securing a seat on the executive committee of the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE), enhancing its international influence.
Jurij Rifelj, Slovenia's ambassador to Japan, said the Expo was an "excellent opportunity to strengthen Slovenia's visibility" and build deeper relations with Japan, while pavilion director Gorazd Skrt added that the goal was to show Slovenia as an innovative and open country. "The pavilion was a place where business, tourism and diplomacy intertwined - proof that a small country can offer big stories," he concluded.
