Ljubljana, 30 August (STA) - Slovenia's gross domestic product (GDP) increased by 2.1% in real terms last year on an annual basis, shows the annual estimate by the Statistics Office, published on Friday, which compares to the previous estimate of a 1.6% growth that was based on the aggregation of quarterly data.
After the annual revision of the estimate, the 2023 GDP amounted to EUR 63.951 billion, up by 12.4% in nominal terms and by 2.1% in real terms from the year before, Statistics Office head Apolonija Oblak Flander told the press in Ljubljana.
In 2022 the growth of GDP was 9.4% in nominal terms and 2.7% in real terms.
The growth of GDP in 2023 was boosted by construction (0.8 percentage points), energy (0.7 percentage points), manufacturing (0.3 percentage points) and information and communication (0.3 percentage points).
Financial and insurance activities, mining and agriculture, forestry and fishing all had a negative effect on GDP by 0.1 percentage points.
The estimated growth of GDP is 0.5 percentage points higher than the estimate published on 14 February that was based on aggregation of quarterly data. "The process of estimating the quarterly GDP for 2023 was not changed and we think the difference between the two estimates is relatively small," said Oblak Flander.
