Berlin, 05 March (STA) - Slovenian tourism organisations have received a number of awards at ITB Berlin, one of the world's largest and most prestigious tourism fairs. The Slovenian Tourist Board (STO) bagged six awards at the Golden City Gate competition for its promotion projects, and two local organisations were honoured as well.
The STO received the Golden Bear for the promotion campaign It's All in Our Nature, a booklet promoting Slovenia's beekeeping, and its participation in making Globetrotter, a German documentary set against the stunning backdrops of the Slovenian Alps.
The organisation's hosting Virtuoso Chairman's Event 2024, its Feelgood Towns, a video featuring boy band Joker Out and promoting Slovenian cities, and efforts to combine sports and tourism received the Silver Bear.
"We're extremely proud of the three golden and three silver awards for excellence in marketing communications. Such awards provide Slovenia with additional attention from the international professional community and raise its international profile," STO director Maja Pak Olaj said after the awards were presented on Wednesday.
Ljubljana Tourism, Šalek Valley Tourism and the Velenje municipality were also honoured at the tourism film-print-multimedia competition Golden City Gate, which takes place during the fair.
Sustainability was another aspect where Slovenia was lauded. On Tuesday, the wine country destination Jeruzalem in the northeast of the country won first place in the category destination management at the Green Destinations Top 100 Story Awards competition.
Jeruzalem was celebrated for its Dispersed Hotel, a concept bringing together various types of accommodation.
This year's ITB Berlin kicked off on Tuesday. Presenting Slovenia there are the STO and 27 destinations and tourism providers.
The country's exhibition space has been attracting many visitors, Pak Olaj said. "Expectations on the German market for this year are good, but the fair's participants are looking at next year with caution," she added.
