Ljubljana, 17 October (STA) - The Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GZS) has launched a Slovenian-Arabic Business Council to foster business cooperation. The council will provide access to key information, advice, knowledge and a network of contacts for easier access to Arab markets.
Chaired by Dušan Olaj, the founder and director of air dome maker Duol, the council will focus on identifying business opportunities, organising business delegations, exchange of knowledge and experience, and conducting business environment analyses, the GZS said in a press release on Friday.
The launch marks a key step in strengthening business cooperation between Slovenia and Gulf countries, Olaj was quoted as saying in the press release. "In the first year, our goal will be to not only set the foundation but also to take an active approach to building bridges."
Žiga Vavpotič, the head of the GZS's strategic council for internationalisation, said that Slovenian companies had left an extraordinary mark in the Gulf countries in the past.
"From infrastructure projects to technological solutions - Slovenian quality, innovation and reliability has gained recognition there. Today, we have a chance to build on that legacy," said Vavpotič.
The launch was accompanied by a panel debate featuring representatives of companies present in the Gulf. They underlined the importance of patience, perseverance and personal presence. Entry into Arab markets is a long process based in trust and respect for cultural differences, they said.
The Gulf is looking for cutting edge knowledge and good solutions, especially in high tech, AI and food security, the panellists said.
