Ljubljana, 10 September (STA) - The price of regular petrol sold at service stations outside the Slovenian motorway network fell by 1.1 cents to EUR 1.475 per litre today, while the prices of diesel and heating oil remained unchanged at EUR 1.519 and EUR 1.125 respectively. The new price will apply until 23 September.
At Monday's correspondence meeting, the government maintained excise duties on petrol, but reduced excise duties on diesel and heating oil - the former from EUR 0.47967 to EUR 0.45878 per litre and the latter from EUR 0.21419 to EUR 0.19522 per litre.
On the other hand, it increased the environmental levy on carbon dioxide pollution to EUR 30.85 per tonne of emissions. This is still one of the lowest burdens compared to other EU countries, the government said in support of the increase.
Prices of fuel sold off motorways are calculated based on a method that takes into account global fuel prices and the dollar-euro ratio.
Meanwhile, the prices at petrol stations along the motorway network can be set freely by fuel retailers. They are on average about 20 cents higher than outside the motorway network.
