Ljubljana, 06 November (STA) - After registered joblessness hit a new all-time low in September, October brought an expected uptick in the number of people registered as unemployed with the Employment Service. Mostly on account of first-time job seekers, the figure rose by 2.7% on September to 47,232, which is however a 10.9% improvement over October 2022.
The Employment Service said on Monday that a total of 6,912 jobless persons registered anew in October, a 41.8% increase from September and up 0.9% year-on-year.
Employment was found by 3,370 unemployed persons, 22.8% fewer than in September and 7.1% fewer than in October last year.
In the first ten months of the year, 0.4% fewer people were newly registered as unemployed than in the same period last year, while 11.0% fewer unemployed individuals found employment.
On average, 48,898 people were unemployed per month in the period January-October, 14.8% fewer than in the same period last year, the service said.
Employers reported 142,277 job vacancies from the beginning of the year to the end of October, 3.8% fewer than in the first ten months of last year.
According to the Statistics Office, Slovenia's survey unemployment rate stood at 3.6% in September.
