Ljubljana, 04 June (STA) - The number of jobless persons registered with the country's Employment Service decreased to 43,196 in May, which is 2% lower than in May last year and 2.6% lower than in April this year. A total of 3,817 persons newly registered as jobless, an annual drop of 1.1%, the agency said on Wednesday.
On the other hand, 4,976 jobless deregistered, 3,282 of whom found a job, which is an annual 6.7% increase in employment.
In the first five months of the year, an average 46,366 people were unemployed, down 2.4% from the same period last year.
In the same period, employers reported 5.7% fewer job vacancies to the Employment Service, which totalled 63,349.
