NLB Skladi enters Macedonian market through Generali Investments Skopje

Ljubljana, 22 May (STA) - Asset manager NLB Skladi has successfully completed the acquisition of Generali Investments Skopje, the third largest asset management company in North Macedonia. NLB Skladi CEO Luka Podlogar and NLB bank CEO Blaž Brodnjak highlighted significant growth opportunities in North Macedonia.

"North Macedonia is one of the most strategically important markets for NLB Group. The group has a strong presence here - after all, NLB Banka Skopje is the group's third largest bank in terms of balance sheet total, and with a market share of more than 16% in terms of balance sheet total and more than 20% in terms of retail loans and deposits, it has a systemically important position," said Brodnjak.

NLB sees a lot of potential for further growth in North Macedonia. "We have already established a leasing company in North Macedonia at the end of 2022 and are now adding asset management services to our product portfolio," Brodnjak said.

Podlogar agreed that there are many opportunities for growth in North Macedonia. He said that after the closing of the transaction, an expanded range of funds would be offered to their clients. NLB Group intends to organise its asset management under NLB Skladi in the future.

Melita Rajgelj Ozebek, CEO of Generali Investments Slovenia, said she was glad that the company in Skopje would continue the long tradition of providing quality asset management services under NLB Group.

NLB Skladi is the largest mutual fund management company in Slovenia, and the largest management company in terms of total assets managed, NLB said.

Generali Investments Skopje is the third largest asset management company in the Macedonian market with an 18% market share. The company manages around EUR 48 million in assets in four different investment funds. It employs 10 people.
