Škofja Loka/Ljubljana, 02 June (STA) - LTH Castings, the Škofja Loka-based manufacturer of aluminium castings and products for the automotive industry, is expanding production in Ljubljana to increase the output of components for electric vehicles (EVs).
LTH Castings said in a press release on Monday it has established a core production facility for electric car parts with state-of-the-art technologies and machines at its Ljubljana plant, on the site of the former Litostroj industrial complex.
The company produces the most complex aluminium castings in Ljubljana on several advanced automated production lines. These include EV components for the world's most prestigious car manufacturers and their suppliers. LTH Castings products will be incorporated in EVs built on the new Mercedes-Benz (MMA, MB.EA-M) and BMW (Neue Klasse) platforms.
In developing these components, LTH Castings worked with machine and cutting tool manufacturers to design a new generation of machines and production processes.
The new hall in Ljubljana, where additional production lines for EV components will be set up in the coming years, will also feature a training centre for staff as well as high school and university students.
CEO Matjaž Turk said that in times of high market volatility and rising operating costs, the focus is on rapid adaptation and investment in process development.
The LTH Castings group, which employs 3,800 staff, generated sales revenue of EUR 454 million last year, up 8% over the year before, and spent EUR 57 million on investments. In addition to the Ljubljana plant, it has production units in Škofja Loka, in Čakovec and Benkovac in Croatia, and in Ohrid in North Macedonia.
