Ljubljana, 22 October (STA) - Average monthly labour costs per employee in Slovenia amounted to EUR 3,015 last year, up 9.7% from 2022, the latest statistics released on Tuesday show. Labour costs were highest in electricity, gas and steam supply and lowest in what the statisticians label as other service activities. Workers' income made up 86.5% of the labour costs.
Monthly labour costs in the sector of electricity, gas and steam supply reached EUR 4,753, followed by the financial and insurance sector at EUR 4,409.
On the other hand, labour costs in other service activities reached only EUR 2,262, followed by accommodation and food services at EUR 2,365, the Statistics Office said.
Eurostat data meanwhile shows that the average labour cost per hour worked at EU-27 level was the highest in Luxembourg (EUR 53.9), followed by Denmark (EUR 48.1) and Belgium (EUR 47.1).
These labour costs reached an average EUR 31.8 in the EU-27, with Slovenia at EUR 25.5, which placed it between Italy (EUR 29.8) and Spain (EUR 24.6).
They were the lowest in Bulgaria (EUR 9.3) and Romania (EUR 11.0).
This methodology takes into account data about businesses with more than nine employees for all sectors except for agriculture, hunting, forestry, fishing, public administration, defence, and mandatory social security.
