Kočevje, 28 September (STA) - Intersocks, a leading global manufacturer of technical socks, launched a new automated warehouse near its home location in Kočevje in south Slovenia on Friday. The company says the investment is a key part of a broader strategy to expand production and logistics capacities.
The new Autostore warehouse will allow the company to automate and optimise its logistics processes. The Autostore robotic system enables efficient warehousing and order processing, which will significantly speed up market responsiveness, improve delivery accuracy and reduce the workload on employees, the company said.
The company has recently also launched a new production hall in Kočevje, bought most advanced sock knitting machines and improved its IT technology.
The new automated warehouse is only the first step in the company's expansion. In the next phase they plan to build a high-bay warehouse with a capacity for 10,000 to 12,000 pallets, which will further increase the warehousing capacity and allow them to better manage the growing demand in domestic and foreign markets.
The value of the investments was not disclosed this time but back in November last year the company told the STA it was planning a EUR 10 million investment in an automated and robotic high-bay warehouse.
Apart from being one of the leading manufacturers and distributors of high-tech technical socks, Intersocks is a leading distributor of Crocs footwear in the Europe, Middle East and Africa region and further afield.
Based in Kočevje, the company is part of the international Arklyz Group based in Switzerland. The group brings together companies in sock and shoe manufacturing, retail and online sales.
Founded in 1992, Intersocks employs 183 people. Last year it posted EUR 3.7 million in profit on EUR 75 million in revenue.
