Ljubljana, 10 October (STA) - Slovenia's industrial output contracted somewhat in August, declining by 0.6% on the month before any by 0.1% on the same period a year ago, mainly as a result of lower output in electricity, gas and steam supply, fresh data from the Statistics Office show.
Month-on-month, the output in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply dropped by over 16% and that in mining and quarrying by 1.3%, while manufacturing posted a 0.3% growth.
Year-on-year, the output of electricity, gas and steam declined by 18%, while manufacturing output expanded by 1.8%. Mining output stayed level.
Total sales revenue in industry rose by 0.8% on the month before and by 0.7% year-on-year. They only increased in manufacturing in both comparisons.
The value of inventories was flat month-on-month but rose by 1.5% year-on-year.
In the first eight months of the year, Slovenia's industry contracted by 1.3% on the same period a year ago as. Manufacturing output was down by 0.9% and that of electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning dropped by 2.7%. Mining production rose by 6.4% in the period.
Industrial sales revenue dropped by 0.8% in the period.
