ICT sector reports further growth in 2023

Ljubljana, 22 September (STA) - Slovenia's information and communication technology (ICT) sector generated EUR 6.2 billion in net revenue last year, 8% more than the year before. The industry reported EUR 2.3 billion in value added, a 7% increase year-on-year. The number of companies in the sector, as well as the number of employees increased by 4% each.


Some 90% of the revenue was generated by services companies and the rest by production companies, according to data released by the Statistics Office.

There were just under 10,600 companies active in the sector last year, and 36,100 employees and sole proprietors. Both figures were 4% higher than in 2022.

Some 10% of those working in ICT worked in production companies. In the services side of the industry, the number of employees and sole proprietors reached just over 32,400, an increase of 7% year-on-year.

The sector paid out EUR 1.2 billion in salaries last year, an increase of 14% compared to 2022.

Value added increased by 7% over the year before, to reach EUR 2.3 billion, with service companies accounting for 93%. Value added per employee was at EUR 63,665 last year, compared to EUR 62,051 in 2022.
