Ljubljana, 18 December (STA) - The Economy Ministry has selected a consortium of nine partners led by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GSZ) to establish a Slovenian Circular Economy Centre. Between 2024 and 2029, the ministry will provide EUR 3.5 million for the centre, a hub supporting a systemic transition to circular economy and society.
The new centre will carry out activities to support the green transition across the entire country, contributing to the creation of a climate-neutral, circular economy.
"It will strengthen the use of business models and operational practices where the value of products, materials and other resources is preserved for as long as possible.
"It will promote more resource-efficient management from design of products, services and processes and on through the entire life cycle and value chain, supported by digitisation," the ministry wrote on Wednesday.
In doing so, it will contribute to increasing the resilience, competitiveness and productivity of the economy.
The funds come partly from the EU's Regional Development Fund.
Three bidders responded to the call for applications the ministry published in April, but only two applications met the criteria, and the GZS's was rated as the best.
Some of the other members of the GZS consortium are the Chamber of Craft and Small Business (OZS), the National Building and Civil Engineering Institute, Pomurje Technology Park, the Reuse Centre, and IT company Arctur.
