Ljubljana, 06 January (STA) - Slovenia exported goods worth EUR 5.4 billion in November, a 5.2% increase year-on-year. Imports rose by 5.9% to EUR 5.7 billion. In the first eleven months of last year, exports were 11.3% higher year-on-year, while imports grew by 19.4%, the Statistics Office said on Monday.
The higher values of exports and imports are attributed to increased trade with non-EU countries. Exports to non-EU countries were 13.7% higher year-on-year, while imports rose by 17.1%.
Excluding processing activities, exports to this group of countries grew by 8.5% in November to EUR 914 million, while imports increased by 5% to EUR 793 million.
In contrast, trade values with EU member states declined compared to November 2023. Exports to EU countries fell by 2.5% to EUR 2.6 billion, and imports decreased by 3.9% to EUR 2.7 billion.
According to the statisticians, the monthly trade deficit amounted to EUR 300 million, with import coverage by exports at 94.9%.
For the first eleven months of last year, export values were 11.3% higher compared to the same period in 2023, while import values rose by 19.4%. The most significant increase was observed in imports from non-EU countries, which surged by 43%.
During this period, the trade deficit in goods with foreign countries amounted to EUR 6.7 billion, with an import coverage by exports at 89.5%.
