Electricity prices for Slovenian households below EU average

Ljubljana, 06 May (STA) - Electricity prices remained below the EU average for Slovenian households in the second half of 2024. For other consumers in Slovenia they were near the EU average, show Eurostat data published on Tuesday.


In Slovenia the average electricity price for households, together with all fees and duties, was EUR 20.06 per 100 KWh, down slightly compared to EUR 20.84 in the first half of the year.

The average EU household paid EUR 28.7 per 100 KWh. Prices were highest in Germany (EUR 39.4), Denmark, Ireland and Belgium.

Hungarian households paid the least for electricity at EUR 10.32 per 100 KWh. Other countries where electricity was cheaper than in Slovenia were Bulgaria, Malta, Croatia, Slovakia and Romania.

Expressed in purchasing power standards (PPS), electricity in Slovenia was less affordable as 10 countries offered cheaper electricity. Prices were highest in the Czech Republic, Cyprus, Germany and Poland and the lowest in Malta, Luxembourg, Hungary and the Netherlands.

With just under EUR 22 per 100 KWh, Slovenia was just below the EU average regarding electricity prices for non-household consumers in the second half of 2024. Prices did rise by EUR 0.94 compared to the first half of the year.

Non-household consumers paid as much as EUR 30.4 per 100 KWh in Cyprus and as low as EUR 9.6 in Finland.

In Slovenia prices of natural gas for households were just under EUR 9.1 per 100 KWh, significantly below the EU average of EUR 12.33. Non-household consumers paid just over EUR 7 per 100 KWh, close to the EU average of EUR 7.45.
