Brnik, 04 November (STA) - EasyJet has launched flights between Ljubljana and Manchester, restoring a direct link between the cities for the first time since 2019. The Ljubljana airport welcomed the inaugural flight with a ceremony on Tuesday.
The new service to Manchester will be EasyJet's second route from Ljubljana's Jože Pučnik Airport, complementing its service to London Gatwick.
It will operate twice a week, with flights scheduled for Tuesdays and Saturdays. EasyJet is expected to operate them with a 186-seat Airbus A320 aircraft.
Tickets are already available on the British carrier's website, with one-way tickets starting at EUR 29.49.
The route will provide Slovenian travellers with direct access to northern England, one of the most economically powerful and culturally vibrant parts of the United Kingdom, the Ljubljana airport operator Fraport Slovenija said in a press release.
Manchester is known for its rich industrial heritage, its lively cultural and music scene, as well as for its world-famous football clubs, including Manchester United, for which Slovenian football star Benjamin Šeško plays, the operator said.

Flights to Manchester will be a valuable addition to our connectivity with the UK market, supporting both inbound tourism and stronger business links between our two countries," said Babett Stapel, managing director of Fraport Slovenija.
Manchester also serves as one of EasyJet's major bases, offering connections to more than 80 destinations across Europe.
EasyJet first launched flights between Ljubljana and London in 2004. It has already announced it would start operating flights between Ljubljana and Edinburgh in spring.
