Consumer confidence up in August

Ljubljana, 23 August (STA) - Consumer confidence in Slovenia grew by one percentage point in August compared to July and by 10 points year-on-year, shows data published by the Statistics Office on Friday. Consumer confidence was also nine percentage points above the 2023 average.


Consumer confidence in August was the highest since February 2022 or before the start of the war in Ukraine.

It was boosted by the more optimistic opinion of the current financial situation in the household, which was up by four points, and expectations for the household financial situation in a year, up by one point.

Expectations regarding large purchases declined by three points, while the expectations about the financial situation in the country stayed level compared to July.

All four components improved year-on-year, with the sub-index measuring expectations regarding the financial situation in the country gaining 13 points.

The sub-indices measuring expectations regarding the current financial situation of households and the expectations regarding the situation in the future each gained 12 points, while the sub-index measuring expectations regarding large purchases gained one point.
