Business delegation searching for new partnerships in China

Shanghai/Ningbo, 19 May (STA) - A Slovenian business delegation is starting nearly a week-long visit to China on Monday. The delegation is accompanying Economy Ministry State Secretary Matevž Frangež to Shanghai and Ningbo, where Slovenia will be a guest of honour at the China-CEEC Expo & International Consumer Goods Fair.

Organised by the ministry, the Spirit agency and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GZS), the delegation will meet Chinese business executives, visit innovative companies and industrial parks, the GZS said in a press release.

Until Saturday, Slovenian business representatives will have the opportunity to attend several events, including business forums and fairs.

In Shanghai, the delegation will take part in a business forum and hold individual meetings. They will also visit the rapidly developing Linang free trade zone, the seat of a number of companies involved in AI, digitalisation and advanced logistics.

In Ningbo, they will take part in a business event hosted by the China-Central and Eastern Europe Business Council.

They will also visit the China-CEEC Expo & International Consumer Goods Fair, the largest fair in China focusing on cooperation with Central and Eastern Europe. Slovenia will be the guest of honour at the fair, which runs between Thursday and Sunday.

The country will have a national and a commercial pavilion at what is the fourth China-CEEC Expo. The national pavilion will focus on general promotion of Slovenia's tourism and culture, as well as investment opportunities, while the commercial pavilion will feature 15 Slovenian companies.

Moreover, the GZS and Spirit, in collaboration with the Slovenian Consulate in Shanghai, will make it possible for companies to present their products and services at the national pavilion and at targetted investment and networking events, the press release said.

The delegation's visit to China is part of the GZS's efforts to boost Slovenian presence in the Chinese market, the chamber said. "We want to encourage new export and investment flows and fortify Slovenia's role as a reliable and innovative partner."
