Average gross wage in February down 1.7% in real terms

Ljubljana, 22 April (STA) - The average gross wage in Slovenia in February amounted to EUR 2,430.99, which is 1.4% less nominally and 1.7% less in real terms than in January. The average net wage was down 1.2% nominally and 1.5% in real terms on a monthly basis to EUR 1,550.03.


The average gross wage was lower in February on a monthly basis in both the public and private sectors, the Statistics Office announced on Tuesday.

In the public sector, it was down by 2.2% to EUR 2,772.44 and in the private sector it dropped by 0.9% to EUR 2,273.14.

The highest average gross wage in February was paid out in the electricity, gas and steam supply sector - EUR 3,630.20, while the lowest was paid out in the hospitality industry - EUR 1,753.11.

In terms of the statistical regions, the highest average gross wage in February was paid out in Central Slovenia, where it was 10.2% higher than the national average, at EUR 2,678.53.

It was the lowest in Primorsko-Notranjska, amounting to EUR 2,096.45, or 13.8% below the national average.

Year-on-year, the average gross wage in February was meanwhile up 6.6%, and the average net wage by 6.7% nominally, and by 4.9% and 5%, respectively, in real terms.
