Ljubljana, 29 November (STA) - Slovenia's annual inflation rate climbed from 0% to 1.8% in November, while consumer prices increased 0.7% over October on average. Service prices went up by 2.8% and goods prices by 1.2%, the Statistics Office said on Friday, highlighting higher food and non-alcoholic beverages prices as the biggest contributor to annual inflation.
The annual growth rate, still considerably lower than the 4.9% recorded in November 2023, was pushed up by 0.4 percentage points as a result of 2.3% higher prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages.
Moreover 0.3 p.p. each was contributed by higher prices in the groups health (6.1% price rise), restaurants and hotels (3.8%), clothing and footwear (3.6%) and recreation and culture (3.1%).
On the other hand, the growth in annual inflation was slowed by 0.2 p.p. as a result of 1.4% lower transport prices.
On a monthly basis, the primary driver of inflation was a 16.8% rise in electricity costs due to winter-season network fee adjustments, the dearer electricity adding 0.5 percentage points to the inflation rate. Other contributors included higher fuel prices.
Monthly inflation was partially offset by cheaper accommodation services and package holidays.
Measured with the harmonised index of consumer prices, the annual growth of consumer prices stood at 1.6%, which compares to 4.5% in November 2023. The monthly price growth stood at 0.8%.
