Novo Mesto, 22 May (STA) - Adria Mobil, a maker of caravans and motorhomes, produced just under 16,000 vehicles in the 2023/2024 business year and generated a record EUR 737 million in revenue. The company, celebrating its 60th anniversary, is optimistic about the future as demand for vans and motorhomes grows.
Adria Mobil has produced more than 725,000 vehicles since production launched in 1965, including 570,000 caravans, 100,000 motorhomes and 55,000 vans fitted for camping.
Today the company is part of the French group Trigano, it employs almost 2,000 workers and has more than 500 vendors in more than 30 countries, the company said at a press conference on Thursday.
Like its competition, Adria Mobil is facing a period of consolidation, CEO Gregor Adler said. The optimism after the Covid-19 pandemic was too high and led to high stocks at points of sale.
"The market slowed down this year, which means the stocks are selling slowly," he said, adding that the company adjusted by lowering production volumes and focusing on quality.
In the last five years the number of newly registered caravans has decreased, especially in Scandinavia, which is a traditional market for caravans, Adler said, adding that he expected the decrease to slow down soon. The sales of vans and motorhomes, on the other hand, are growing, he said.
Forecasts for next year are positive, Adler said, adding that he expects an increase in both production and sales.
The company is planning a new strategy for the next five years, which will include a rehaul of its products. "We expect we will be above-averagely successful and that we will get an additional market share in the coming years," he said.
Adler is not afraid of Chinese competition because the world of campers and motorhomes "is more conservative than the car industry".
The company is celebrating its 60th anniversary this year. It introduced several new models of campers and vans and will receive Economy Minister Matjaž Han in the afternoon on the occasion.
